Teaghlach Gaelach: a Celebration of Irish Family History is the focus of the 2024 virtual family history conference presented by the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa (BIFHSGO), to be held 26–27 October 2024. The conference is among the activities celebrating the Society’s 30th anniversary year.
Six expert speakers—Natalie Bodle, Austin Bovenizer, Claire Bradley, John Grenham, Martin McDowell and William Roulston—will cover topics ranging from researching farming ancestors to using surnames to map families. Everyone with Irish roots will benefit from taking part!
The conference also includes a virtual Expo Hall, offering you the chance to make contact with organizations whose products or ideas may well help your research.
A bonus feature of the event is two Connect Sessions: a Conference Connect, where registrants will have an opportunity to connect with one another and discuss the sessions, and an Expert Connect, when experts representing various areas of Ireland will offer you research assistance.
Whether you’re a novice genealogist or a seasoned family historian, you will find tips on furthering your research skills and gain the impetus to expand your family history story. The conference will fit any schedule, as well: you have the choice of attending the live sessions or watching the recorded sessions later at your convenience.
“We have assembled a wonderful group of Irish research specialists who will broaden your approach, give you great tips, and spark new ideas,” said BIFHSGO President Dianne Brydon. “So many Canadians have Irish descent, our Ireland-focused conferences are always popular.”
The conference registration fee ($C35 for members, $C50 for non-members) includes the six presentations, the Connect Sessions, and access to the presentation videos and handouts until November 30. Visit our website for all the details and follow us on Facebook and X for the latest updates.
Registration Opens September 1st!
